England's world cup-winning captain Martin Johnson has been appointed England team manager from 1 July.
Brian Ashton has been removed from his role as head coach, but offered a post, he has held previously, of head coach at the Rugby Football Union's National Academy. |

Although Beth Tweddle missed out on the medals (she came fourth) in her normally strongest discipline, the uneven bars, she still managed to gain a silver medal in the floor exercise at the women's European Championships. |

Ben Ainslie won his fifth Finn world championship after coming second to Ed Wright in the final race in Melbourne.
Ainslie ranked it, together with 2003, as his hardest title success. He had been just a point ahead of Dan Slater before the final race. |
